An 8-week group entrepreneurship training program for women of color who want the freedom and flexibility to work on their own terms

You’re an A-player.

You thrive in your work and you’re known as the go-to person in your field.

When something needs to be done well, you’re the first person your colleagues call.

You’ve climbed the ladder, and many can’t understand what more you could possible want.

But you know you were built for moremore leadership, more responsibility, more impact.

Here’s what's even more impressive about you.

You’ve thrived in your career despite having to brush off subtle (and blatant) microaggressions and even multiple layers of bias as a woman of color in the workplace.

You've dealt with your fair share of:

  • Exclusionary workplace policies and practices
  • Being passed over for promotions when you’ve already proven that you can do the job

  • Feeling constantly on guard and torn between toning down your authentic voice and speaking louder to be truly seen

  • Doing the job of three people with the salary of one

“We attribute the growth in women-owned firms to the lack of fair pay, fair promotion, and family-friendly policies found in corporate America. Women of color, when you look at the statistics, are impacted more significantly by all of the negative factors that women face. It’s not surprising that they have chosen to invest in themselves.”
— Margot Dorfman, CEO of the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce

The effects of navigating unhealthy work environments ripple far beyond our office walls.

This constant striving and elusive search for balance takes a toll on us in the form of health challenges, financial angst, relationship strain and missed moments with those who matter most.

And because you haven’t been able to fully embody your leadership, you may have started to believe that you're destined to be the behind-the-scenes support and never the lead.

Here’s the truth and irony, sis. You’ve already been being boss.

Now it’s time to get the business tools to be able to be your own boss and have the option to work in a way that serves and supports all of you.

Entrepreneurship skills are survival skills that should be in every woman’s toolbox.

Even if you love your job, the uptick in remote, project-based and freelance work makes it more likely that you'll fly solo at some point in your career. Will you be ready?

When you have the tools to think and act like an entrepreneur you can:

  • Choose to lean out of workplaces that don’t support you

  • Be location independent and work from wherever

  • Take on the amount and type of work that fits your lifestyle

  • Have the time to take better care of yourself and your loved ones

  • Be confident knowing that no matter what life changes happen, you can make it on your own

Hi, I'm Titilayo Tinubu Ali, creator and facilitator of the Own Your Expertise Accelerator.

I created this program because it is exactly what I would have wanted 15 years ago when I took on my first freelance consulting client.

You may have noticed that a global shift towards a freelance economy and an inner shift in our collective desire for work-life balance is driving many women to consider options outside of the traditional 9 to 5.

But while many of us have mastered climbing the professional ladder, few of us have learned the tools of entrepreneurship on our way up.

I believe that all women should have the support and business skills we need to thrive on our jobs now and lean out when workplaces aren't working for us.

This program melds my 15 years of experience as an independent consultant alongside my career as an attorney, writer and researcher with my signature professional development methodology that guides women through the process of identifying their core genius and monetizing it.

With these tools, you'll be able to stay ahead of the freelance economy trend, exercise greater agency over your time, and recenter your needs and the people who are most important to you.

If this feels like a good fit, I'd love for you to join us. The first step is to request an invitation so that we can send you a copy of the application. You'll also get regular tips and inspiration from us as part of the Own Your Expertise email community.

About Titilayo Tinubu Ali, Esq.

Titilayo Tinubu Ali is on a mission to help women increase their earning potential, expand their career options, and gain the skills to work for themselves when they want to or need to. She is founder of Own Your Expertise LLC, a women's entrepreneurship and leadership training company, and facilitator of the Own Your Expertise Accelerator.

Alongside her career as an attorney and education researcher, she has been an independent consultant for the past 15 years serving in a variety of legal, management and communications roles. Her published writing and research has shaped the development of education systems in the United States, Canada and Ireland and she is a co-author of The Road to High-Quality Early Learning: Lessons from the States. She has created multi-market media campaigns for nonprofits and social causes that have successfully placed news stories on CNN, NBC, ABC, FOX, and NPR.

She routinely speaks in college, university and corporate settings to help organizations cultivate innovation, business acumen, communication skills, and entrepreneurial thinking in their early- and mid-career women employees.

Titilayo earned a law degree from UC Berkeley, a master's degree in sociology and education policy from Columbia University, and a bachelor's degree in English, with honors, from Spelman College. She is also a certified NxLevel entrepreneurship instructor for small businesses. Titilayo lives in the Atlanta area with her husband and twin sons.

Before working with Titilayo, I wasn't sure where to start, how to organize, or what was possible in the consulting field. I lacked knowledge of a succinct system to get me to the place of starting and was unclear about the path to consulting.

Over the course of working with Titilayo, I developed a clear vision for how I will start consulting, where this could possibly lead, and I reaffirmed my value in the space I intend to consult in. My first consulting gig is actually in the works, and I feel like a world of opportunities opened up.

Titilayo is a wonderful communicator and educator, and the design of the materials was A1. She has a gentle, genuine spirit and is very easy to work with. Because she is naturally gifted and puts in the work herself, I knew that I was getting solid information and support.

The Own Your Expertise Accelerator is an 8-week online training and group coaching experience for women who want to learn the tools of business building so they can have more freedom, flexibility and agency to work on their own terms.

Part personal development, part business development

Over the course of six core modules, you will work on unlearning the habits and limiting beliefs of an employee mindset while learning and implementing the foundational practices of working for yourself.

Here's what the program will cover:

  • Identifying your niche
  • Researching your target audience
  • Validating your business idea
  • Packaging your skills into a product or service
  • Selling your offers
  • Financial planning for the transition from employee to entrepreneur

You should expect to set aside 2-3 hours each week for absorbing and implementing the materials.

Participate online from anywhere

All of the training is housed online in a private student portal where you can view the course videos, download accompanying worksheets, compare notes, connect with others and return to the materials whenever you need to.

Coaching and community to support you along the way

The Accelerator also includes bi-weekly group coaching sessions with Titilayo where she answers questions, supports you in moving through roadblocks and provides strategic guidance to keep you on track towards your goals.

Program dates

The program runs for 8 weeks beginning July 9, 2018. Lessons are released weekly as recorded videos that you can access and watch inside of the student portal on your own time. Bi-weekly Q&A coaching calls are held every other Wednesday from 7-8:30pm ET.  All Q&A calls will be recorded and stored in the student portal if you’re not able to attend live.

Before my strategy session with Titilayo, I struggled with identifying what skills and services I have to share outside of my 9 to 5.

The strategy session helped me realize that I have so much experience that I can offer to potential clients and that I've got to really learn how to brag on myself. Because of our session, I now see new opportunities at every turn. I know it is only a matter of time before I book clients because I've been equipped with added confidence in myself and my abilities.

Titilayo is a dream to work with. She is warm, knowledgeable and relatable. I appreciated that she prepared for our session by researching my work and offering pointed guidance and suggestions. I highly recommend you work with Titilayo!

—Chantá Parker, Attorney & Creator at Memo to Mattie

Before working with Titilayo, I was mentally ready to start another work-from-home business, but I was struggling with structure and developing a focused strategy for how to begin.

Through our work together, I've learned not to be a perfectionist and to build, measure, learn and repeat. I now believe that I'm expert enough, I'm organized financially, I've identified my niche, and I'm launching a membership community for homeschooling mompreneurs in May.
